Area is a semi-circular bay of the Pacific Ocean, on the coast of California, South of San Francisco. It is ringed by a segment of California State Route 1 which connects Santa Cruz at the north end to Carmel at the south end. As of 2005, the City of Monterey’s population was 30,641.
